Metal Working has brought innovation in the steel structures market thanks to the development of new, safer, more competitive and sustainable structural systems.

We have carried out our RetD Project MW21 in collaboration with Università degli Studi di Trento and Politecnico di Milano.
For each prototype, the actual level of safety was evaluated both numerically and experimentally.
It is important to underline that the realisation of an optimised structure brings great benefits not only from the engineering point of view, but also from the environmental one.
In conclusion, the research project, in which Metal Working was leader, is useful to create a solid experimental database of the cyclic and static response of each component used in the design, to calibrate advanced non-linear numerical models, and to understand the limits of the current design approaches prescribed by the Eurocode and worldwide standards. This level of awareness is essential for designing innovative, safe and sustainable structures.

▶ Without proper testing, design would be erroneous.

▶ With testing, it was found that the hypothesis of the continuous frame is incorrect.
